Kerry Thomas RVN

(Registered Veterinary Nurse)

Kerry qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse from Edinburgh’s Telford College in 2009. Her decision to pursue a career in Veterinary Nursing began when she lived for 5 years in Canada and spent time at an Animal Hospital shadowing the staff that worked there.

She returned to Scotland in 2004 and began training at a small animal practice in Fife. As part of Kerry’s Veterinary Nurse training was undertaken at Glasgow Veterinary School, when she made the decision to change practice during her training, she was well equipped to join an Orthopaedic Veterinary referral centre in East Fife. The experience that Kerry gained whilst at the referral centre was invaluable; there she discovered her love of theatre work and is keen to develop her theatre skills further with the RVN Schedule 3 Surgical Skills in Theatre and Suturing Certificate.

Kerry joined us here at Ayrton in 2011 and due to her background, is already involved with our complex Orthopaedic procedures such as cruciate ligament repair and total hip replacements. Kerry enjoyes all aspects of her job but has a special interest in Emergency and Critical Care, Orthopaedics and Theatre Nursing. In her spare time she enjoys watching movies, socialising with friends, computing and walking her two pugs Tyler and Harry.
