Shelton Smith BVSc GPCert (SAM) GPCert (B&PS) MRCVS
(Veterinary Surgeon)

Shelton was born and raised in Sydney, Australia. As a child he had pets including dogs, cats, parrots, chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs, terrapins, snakes and lizards and so with such an interest in all species, it seemed natural to decide on a career in Veterinary Medicine.

Shelton graduated from Sydney University Veterinary School in 2000 and following graduation, worked in mixed practice in rural Australia for two years. In 2003 Shelton and his wife Sarah (a teacher) moved to the UK where Shelton worked as a locum in many small animal veterinary practices in and around the London area. From 2004 – 2006, he worked as a full-time Veterinary Surgeon for a small animal practice in Essex. From 2006 – 2010 Shelton ran the Thamesmead Veterinary Clinic as part of the Goddard Veterinary group in London before joining us here at Ayrton in January of this year.

Shelton has interests in both Small Animal Surgery and Medicine and has undertaken further studies in ultrasonograhy, orthopaedics and exotic animal medicine and surgery. In 2008 Shelton passed the European School of Veterinary Postgraduate Studies (ESVPS) Certificate in Small Animal Medicine and was awarded a GPCert (SAM).

Shelton has two small daughters, Isabella and Matilda. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family, travelling and the outdoors.
