Dr. Tony Page
BSc MA PhD VetMB GPCert (Endo) MRCVS
Tony is the principal veterinary surgeon at ‘Ayrton’ and is one of the co-founders of the Practice.
He is a graduate of Cambridge University Veterinary School and has a BSc and doctorate qualification in biochemistry. Before embarking on a veterinary degree, Tony worked as a research scientist in Birmingham.
Following graduation in 1994, he began his life as a Vet working for a busy mixed practice in lovely Buckinghamshire. In 1997 he made the decision to move to Scotland with his then fiancé Gillian, and took up a position with the PDSA in Edinburgh. Over the next two years he started to develop his long held ambition of designing and building his own state of the art veterinary hospital in West Lothian. His passion for veterinary medicine was the driving force that carried the original practice from those early days in a small Portakabin, to a new purpose built veterinary hospital, situated on the original site that opened in May 2006.
Tony is our Principal Surgeon and having attended several courses both here in Britain and in Europe, leads on Laparoscopic procedures (keyhole surgery) within the practice. In addition to keyhole surgery, his other areas of interest and in which he specialises, are Endoscopy and all current hip and stifle orthopaedic procedures, including TPLO, MMP/MMT and Total Hip Replacements. Having completed his Laparoscopy studies, Tony was awarded the GPCert in Endoscopy and Endosurgery with the European School of Veterinary Post Graduate Studies (ESVPS) in 2011.
Ayrton occupies a great deal of his time, but when not working Tony likes to read and travel, with planned time in Portugal and Italy this year, he also has a great interest in wines.
